Does the app work without an internet connection?
Yes. The complete 2024 DOT Hazardous Materials Table (49 CFR §172.101) and ERG 2024 guide references are bundled inside the app. Search, placard scanning, BOL analysis, and Chart 17 all work fully offline.
Why do I need to sign in?
Sign In with Apple protects your session and personalizes the app. Your name, email, and lookup history are stored only on your device — nothing is uploaded to our servers.
The placard scanner isn’t identifying a placard
- Make sure the whole diamond is in frame and well lit.
- Hold the phone steady, roughly square-on to the placard.
- Faded, damaged, or non-DOT placards may not be recognized — use the search tab or Chart 17 as a fallback.
Is the data official?
The database is derived from the 2024 DOT Hazardous Materials Table and the 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook. Hazmat Helper is a field reference aid — always verify against official shipping papers and the current 49 CFR. In an emergency, call 911 and follow official ERG procedures.
How do I delete my data?
All data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes everything. See our Privacy Policy for details.
